Liam Nate has arrived!!

I know this is fairly late but better late than never!

Liam Nate arrived on the 8th April 2011 at 7:30am. He was 6 weeks early and in a hurry to get here. He weighed 4pounds 3 ounces or 1900gms and was 44cm long.
I'm not going to give you gory details of the birth or anything gross like that. I will say though that my waters broke on the Tuesday 5th April and we rushed to hospital. They gave me drugs to stop the contractions for 2 days and then on the Thursday night the 7th they induced me as Liam wasn't very happy in there and the doctors were concerned.
I was induced at about 8pm I thought I was handling contractions fairly well but then realised that they were just getting stronger. Rocky ended up telling the midwife to get the epidural. We had discussed things like that before the labour anyway and we had agreed that he would be my voice if I couldn't talk. I was so glad I had the epidural I don't think I could of done it without it.
The funniest bit (funny weird not funny haha) about the whole labour was that shift change was happening when I started to push. The midwife who had been with me all night said I'm not going home till this baby is delivered. She had put in the hard yards with me and I really appreciate that, she was bloody awesome. Because of the shift change there seemed to be alot of people in the room. Rocky thinks about 10 or so people I didn't notice I was preoccupied. Then about half hour of pushing and Liam was here.
We got five or so minutes with him after the doctors had looked over him. I knew it was only going to be short lived as he had to go straight to nursery to be checked over as he was prem. Rocky went with him which was really good.

I didn't do too well after labour. I suffered from post partum pre-eclampsia. It was a bit of a scary day after that hit me. I stayed in the labour ward with doctors all around me checking me out trying to work out what was wrong. That night I had to stay in the ASKU unit I'm not entirely sure what the initials stand for but basically it was intensive care. I didn't get to see Liam and hold him again until about 6pm and that was only cause I begged the midwife to take me down there. She did it without doctors permission but I was so glad she did. I got ten minutes with him and it was the best 10 minutes of my life. It made the whole day and what I had been through worthwhile.

People say its unbelievable how much love you have for that child in an instant is just ridiculous. But its not until it happens to you that you realise in that moment just how much love there is and how you just feel like you will do anything for them at a moments notice.
