Albany- Our First Family Holiday

Over the long weekend we had our first family holiday. We chose Albany as Rocky and Liam had never been and I haven't been since I was a kid. So thought it would be good to see things with adult eyes. We drove down on Friday and came home Sunday. It was a nice drive and we discovered Liam is a good traveller. We stopped only twice on the way down and once on the way back.

We stayed at Dog Rock Motel, Rocky kept calling it seal rock cause according to him it looks nothing like a dog. Here is a photo of Liam next to Dog Rock. I couldn't believe its size I actually forgot how big it was.

Our first touristy thing we did was visit Whaleworld. We were there in the late afternoon and of course there was also a storm rolling in. So it was freezing! We only enjoyed looking at the skeletons of the whales as they were amazing. The rest of the whaling station was horrible. I know its history and we probably should not think of it in a bad way. But I honestly don't condone it at all and even just looking at a few of the photos on the wall in one display I was borderline tears. So we didn't hang around for long. Here are the photos we took of whaleworld.

The large whale is a Pygmy Blue Whale so that means its the smaller version of a blue whale. The Blue whales are the biggest at 44m in length. This pygmy one was about 20m in length. Really unbelievable to look at but also very interesting. The smaller whale  is a Humpback Whale they are pretty small in comparison. They also had a sperm whale, and dolphin skeletons too.

Once the storm cleared the next day we went to the Gap and Natural Bridge. I was freaking out alot it was still quite windy and so cold. So these photos were taken by Rocky cause I wouldn't go that close.

Here are some random photos I took on the weekend. I love this light house photo I took from the side of the road on the way to the gap.

Liam running and pointing at the seagulls and pelicans at Emu Point. I could of stayed there for hours just watching the Pelicans on the water. We had great Fish, Squid and Chips there too.

But the highlight of the trip was the Wind Farm. We went there 3 times. But the best time was at sunset. Thats where I got these incredible shots. I love this photo of Liam as whenever we would say 'Where are the Windmills Liam?' He would point straight up at them. I know they aren't called windmills they are Turbines but still he's 1 so you know. I am still yet to decide which one of these sunset photos I am going to get blown up (I have a heap more) and put on our wall.
